VRA FOUNDATION The National Rehabilitation Association performs two important and related roles in rehabilitation; which are an advocacy or social action role and a professional role. The Virginia Chapter (VRA) of the Association is charged with that responsibility within its areas. In response to that charge, The Board of the Virginia Rehabilitation Association (VRA) mandated the establishment of a Grant-In-Aid Program to be implemented through its Grants Committee beginning in 1988-89. The goal of this program is to assist the membership in increasing excellence-in personal living and upward mobility as they provide advocacy for the disabled population. In 1992, the Grant-In-Aid Program became incorporated and is now operating as the Virginia Rehabilitation Association Foundation ' Inc. The corporation is organized exclusively for educational purposes. PERSONS ELIGIBLE: Members of VRA in good standing, a child or the spouse of a member. CRITERIA FOR APPLICANTS No major course of study is required for a child or spouse. if the applicant is a VRA member, the request must be for studies related to the field of rehabilitation. Applicant must show evidence of acceptance by an institution of higher learning approved by the Association of Colleges and Schools. 'Preference will be given to applicants attending Virginia schools, Applicant must apply annually and maintain a “C” average or better to be eligible for re-application. Recipients will be notified by August 1st of the academic year for which the award is made. The Board of Trustees of the Foundation look forward to receiving applications and also would invite all VRA members to make an annual contribution to the endowment! |
