VIRGINIA WELL REPRESENTED AT THE NRA CONFERENCE     Shirley Lyons

The Virginia Rehabilitation Association was represented by a total of 10 members at the National Rehabilitation Association. These members participated as speakers, Division representatives and attendees at the sessions.

Orlando was host to over 420 NRA members. The VRA members were: Shirley Lyons, President; Naomi Aitken, Past-President; Maureen McGuire-Kuletz, incoming President-elect; Board member Howard Green; National VEWAA President Martha Stokes; NRAA Rep. to the NRA Board Bill Burnside; newly elected NRAA Board member Evan Jones; and members Joe Ashley, Peggy Knorr and Judy Ashley.

There were 3 1/2 days of great training opportunities that were well attended despite being on the Disney property with great warm weather. The opportunity for networking was provided by a Presidential Reception in the Exhibit Hall, hospitality by the pool and Division meetings.

The Delegate Assembly was held on Saturday afternoon, with a vote on a proposal to handle student members. This proposal, approved by the Assembly, is to pilot a 2 year study to determine the impact of a $10.00 fee increase for students and a 1 year 1/2 price membership the year following graduation. Look for more information from NRA.

Once again, I was proud to speak to people from around the country and represent Virginia. We have a lot to be proud of and much more work to do. I hope the members who attended the National Conference will share what they learned with you so we can all benefit! Ask them when you see them! (Oh, I'm sure they will also share with you some of the FUN we had, too!) We hope to have a picture by the next NewsNotes!
