DRS Brain Injury Services was awarded a federal Traumatic Brain Injury Planning Grant from the Department of Health and Human Services, Maternal and Child Health Bureau. The first year of the grant, with funding of $75,000, will involve a statewide community-based needs assessment; in year two, DRS will facilitate the development of a comprehensive action plan addressing the needs of Virginians with traumatic brain injury. Virginia, which submitted the grant application collaboratively with the Brain Injury Association of Virginia and VCU's Medical College of Virginia, was one of only four planning grant applications funded for 1998-99 (District of Columbia, Maryland, and Michigan also received funding).
