Go BackPresidential Pondering

Everyone has heard the phrase “Time flies when you’re having fun”, right? Nowadays, that phrase really applies to life more than ever, whether we are having fun or not! We all seem to be running here and there due to our hectic schedules and lives. It seems as if we spend less time taking a moment to appreciate the people and the things that mean most to us. We would like to take this opportunity to ask you to stop for one moment and tell yourself “thank you”.

Having said that, we want to thank you for all you do everyday as a Rehabilitation Counselor. We know every aspect of this job is tough and at the same time so rewarding. The hard work you perform allows persons with disabilities to achieve greater independence, become employed and feel they are apart of society.

On March 22, 1983, Martha Lentz Walker of Kent State University, who was President of NCRE at the time, testified before the Subcommittee on Select Education of the U.S. House of Representatives and was instrumental in bringing to the attention of Congress the need for rehabilitation counselors to be qualified.

In honor of that day in 1983, the United States Senate, along with NRA, RCEA, NCRE, NRCA, ARCA, CRCC, CSAVR and CORE, recognize March 22 as National Rehabilitation Counselors Appreciation Day.

Again, thank you for all you do, keep up the great work and have a wonderful day!

Sincerely,
Amy Miller, VRA President and Deborah Veale, VRCEA President
